Latista and USACE delivered a very successful and well attended presentation on October 25 to kickoff an excellent National Conference for CMAA.
Orlando, FL, and Reston, VA October 25, 2009 (Conference photos added October 28) – Latista Technologies Executive Vice President Christopher Ramsey will present as a field automation and quality expert at the upcoming Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) conference. Latista will partake in an Educational Session with the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) entitled “Meeting USACE Quality Requirements – Automating Quality Management in the Field.”
John Chubb, the USACE Chief of Construction, Baltimore District, and Ramsey will discuss the use of automation software and mobile tablet computers as a quality solution on the 2.7 million sq. ft., $1.7 billion National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency facility currently under construction in Ft. Belvoir, Virginia.
Quality is critical for USACE, as their construction projects must meet strict government and military specifications. To meet these specifications, USACE; general contractors Clark Construction Group, LLC, and Balfour Beatty; and Latista Technologies are automating QA/QC and punchlist inspections using mobile tablet PCs and web-based software. Automation is critical on projects to improve collaboration and efficiency on the jobsite and to support Total Quality Management (TQM).
Session attendees will learn the benefits of mobile field automation and collaborative software for quality management. They will see how the Latista solution improves efficiency and accuracy between the field and the office and enhances collaboration between contractors, subcontractors, and owners.
Attendees will see a mobile tablet computer and software, including features for quality inspections, punch-list and a field-ready building information model (BIM) component. Latista Field integrated the first mobile BIM component with help from its partners, Autodesk Inc. and Tekla Inc.
The presentation is scheduled for 3:15 Sunday afternoon, October 25. The 2009 CMAA National Conference runs from October 25-27 at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress in Orlando, Florida.
Visitors to the conference can learn about the Latista Field automation solution at booth 121. Automation and quality experts from Latista will be on hand to demonstrate the software and answer questions on how best to implement its use on the jobsite to improve quality, reduce construction time, and eliminate paper. Conference registration is still available online at the CMAA website.
